Hi there,
We are developing an online playground that fosters compassion through communication by teaching young kids foreign languages and about foreign cultures. See the blurb below. We are California based. If you are interested in joining us or know of anyone who may be interested, please contact me.
Afsoun
Bilingo Club is an online experience that prepares young children (age 3-7) for a world without borders by teaching them foreign languages in a fun, natural, and effective way. This project began as a Masters project at Stanford University (School of Education and Graduate School of Business). The first release will be in Spanish and English. We are looking for an amazing software engineer (part of the Founding team) to join us.
We are a team of passionate people who like to work hard and have fun while we introduce the world to little kids. Collectively, we've worked with several studios in Hollywood, Sesame Street, a Grammy Award Winner, a world famous band, a successful educational gaming company, on major advertising campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, and at the World Bank. We are looking for people that have the talent and the passion to revolutionize educational entertainment.
Qualifications:
- must have a strong desire to do something meaningful and impact future generations
- amazing coder who takes no prisoners and has high standards for technical excellence alongside artistic creativity
- ability to think about old problems in education in entirely new and fresh ways that leverage technology and multimedia
- must love working in a small and fun entrepreneurial environment
- ability to create scalable solutions with big impact for our youngest computer generation
- great knowledge of Flex 3 and Flash CS3 (ActionScript 3.0) CSS, PHP/MySQL (preferred but will also accept ASP.NET/MSSQL or Ruby/PostGre or combinations thereof)
- 1 year experience with ActionScript 3.0
- 4 years experience with typed language such as Java or C++
- Worked on projects with multiple programmers
- Experience with SVN or CVS
- previous experience with edutainment and casual games a plus
